Asif Ali Zardari the political magician of Pakistani Politics was so desperate that he went to see the Wizard of Oz, Moulana Fault ur Rehman, infamously known as Moulana Diesel. He is there because his banker and frontman are both in custody.
This seemed far fetched when Senate elections and so called political awakening was taking place few months ago.
The hunger games have begun.
The decsion to remove the nexus of crime, terrorism and politics taken some years ago, is now taking its finality.
In the first phase the nexus of terrorism and politics was broken. MOM was torn apart. MQM which became so powerful that it started challenging state for its own gains, and for powers outside Pakistan. Like all manufactured clandestine armed groups, it became so powerful with unassailable political and street powers in Karachi, that made all very uncomfortable.
Regressive disintegration was required and results are there for all to see and for Karachities to feel as well.
No more shutting down of Karachi on phone calls by Namaloom Afrads. No more Bhatta calls, no more target killing. And biggest of all no more Altaf Bhai. Breathtakingly spectacular achievement, considering size and quantum of MQM problem we perceived, minimal kinetics were involved. Just few hundred Rangers were needed to do the job.
Both politically and as kinetic power hub, MQM has been regressively dismantled. MQM is now so many MOMs that it’s no more significant. Best part of this stage of hunger game is that Karachi is now again given back to so called mainstream political parties, taking it back from one ethnic group.
Then came the turn of Tiger. Nawaz Sharif perceived and portrayed the part of politics and crime nexus, his removal is in progress, heading towards its finality.
His politics is alive, but him as political head of PMLN can not termed as alive and kicking. He is kicking, and one can say that again.
He is kicking to keep his political legacy alive, and that is a desperate effort to say the least. If you are in damage control stage that means damage has been done. How well he is doing, jury is out on his performance.
Regressive disintegration of PMLN is taking more time then planned or may be it is right on time.
PMLN should have been divided into three or more groups. Nawaz. Shahbaz. Maryam.
But somehow Hamza seems more acceptable. Well when I write somehow Hamza, I am trying to be as unassuming as possible.
Maryam has picked up the habit of her uncle, reading Faiz Ahmed Faiz and Jalib, Hum Dekhain Gay stuff like that. Her uncle just liked reading and singing it, he never believed in it. She may have started believing in these political heretical mutterings of politically motivational dead people. No one writes such stuff, it’s not fashionable anymore.
Nawaz Sharif wanted all opposition parties to form a joint venture but Zardari was the biggest hurdle for his own reasons. It was evident to all that such weak PTI government was result of the plan to keep all on their toes. Now Nawaz Sharif’s wish is being fulfilled.
It means all opposition together can push the PTI government down and create the atmosphere for real change. As PTI is miserably failing and it is as evident as sunrise.
